* Restaurants

The most populare restaurants in Britain are in fact Indian and Chinese. The dishes is in these restaurants are very interesting and are not usually very expensive. Most of them also have a take away service, so yuo can buy the food and take it home to eat. The most expensive restaurants are Italian, French and English. There are also vegerarian restaurants for people who don't eat meat of fish. In many restaurants you have to book a table in advance.The menů offers a minimum of three courses: starters, main courses and desserts, while the wine list offers a selection of red and white wines. At the end of your meal you ask the waiter for your bill. If you think you have eaten well and the service has been good, you can also leave a tip for the waiter people often go to one of these restaurants to celebrate special days-a birthday or an annivesary for example.


* Piazza restaurants

Pizza restaurants, or pizzerias, have become popular in recent years, especially with young people. The food is less expensive than in traditional restaurants ans.d the atmosphere is less formal. Normally you don't have to book a table and there's a big selection of pizzas on the menu.

* Fast food restaurants

Like pizza restaurants, fast food restaurants are not very expensive and are also popular with young people. The menu usually consists of hamburgers or hot dogs with chips and salads. People also put a little mayuonnaise, ketchup or mustard on their food.


* Pubs

Pubs serve hot or cold meals and snakes at very reasonable prices. They also sell beer, wines and spirts. The food is usually simple, but the quality is good. One thing you must remeber: you can't drink alcohol if you are under eighteen.

* Fish a nd chip shops.

Together with the pub, the fish and chip shop is one of the great British traditions. People go into the shop and order fried fish with a few chips. Sometimes they eat these meal outside while they are walking along the street. Fish and chip shops used to the very popular because fish and chips was a good cheap meal, but today aren't many left. People prefer other types of food now.


* Sandwich bars

If you don't have much time to eat and you want something quick, light and chea, you can go to a sandwich bar. Sandwich bar offer big selection of sandwiches with white or brown bread.

* Cafés

Cafés serve hot cheap traditional snaks like eggs and bacon. Here you can drink milk, tea coffee and soft drinks, too.
